Ambassador Leonidas Chrysanthopoulos, citizen of Greece, assumed his duties as Secretary General in the BSEC PERMIS on 1 May 2006 upon the decision of the 14th Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs held in Bucharest in May 2006. Born in Athens in 1946, Ambassador Chrysanthopoulos completed his studies in Political and Economic Sciences at the Law School of the University of Athens. He joined the Greek Foreign Ministry in 1972. He served as Vice-Consul in Toronto, as Second Secretary at the Permanent Mission of Greece to the EEC, Director of the Diplomatic Cabinet of the Minister in Charge of EEC Affairs, Consul General in Istanbul, Representative of Greece in Charge of Third Committee Questions (United Nations), Deputy Permanent Representative of Greece to the United Nations, Minister Counsellor in Beijing, Ambassador of Greece in Yerevan, Alternate Director General for European Union Affairs, Ambassador of Greece in Warsaw, Ambassador of Greece in Ottawa, Director General for EU Affairs, and Director General for Bilateral Economic Relations and Multilateral Economic Cooperation. |
